Tra bod y Cyngor Tref yn croesawu buddsoddiad mewn addysg Gymraeg ac yn yr ysgol mae’n GWRTHWYNEBU’r cais hwn oherwydd:

1. Nid yw’r dyluniad yn mynd i’r afael yn ddigonol â’r perygl llifogydd (roedd y cynllun gwreiddiol yn cynnwys adeilad wedi ei godi)
2. Nid yw goleddf y to yn ddigon serth

Whilst the Town Council welcomes investment in Welsh education and in the school it OBJECTS to this application because:

1. The design doesn’t sufficiently address the flood risk (the original plan featured a raised building)
2. The roof pitch is not steep enough

Nid oes gan y Cyngor fel yr ymgeisydd unrhyw wrthwynebiad ac mae’n edrych ymlaen at ddod ag adeilad segur yn ôl i ddefnydd.

The Council as the applicant has NO OBJECTION and looks forward to bringing a redundant building back into use.

Mae’r Cyngor YN GWRTHWYNEBU cael gwared ar adeilad eithaf newydd o blaid mwy o leoedd parcio. Hefyd nid oes unrhyw sôn am raciau beiciau na phwyntiau gwefru trydan.

The Council OBJECTS to the removal of quite a new building in favour of more parking spaces. Also there is no mention of bike racks or electric charging points.

Mae’r Cyngor yn croesawu’r pwyntiau gwefru trydan ond mae’n GWRTHWYNEBU ceisiadau cynllunio ôl-weithredol

The Council welcomes the electric charging points but OBJECTS to retrospective planning applications.

Bod y pwyllgor yma yn annog y Cyngor Llawn i edrych ar bosibilrwydd symud cerflun Edward VIII ac i weithio gyda phartneriaid lleol a’r gymuned i enwebu ffigwr newydd i gymryd ei le. Mae’r pwyllgor yn nodi:

• fod llawer mwy o ffigyrau yn hanes Aberystwyth a Chymru sydd yn llawer fwy haeddiannol o safle o fri.
• fod lle i’r fath gerfluniau ond nid mewn llefydd o fraint.
• fod angen sicrhau ein bod ni yn gweithio yn agos iawn gyda phartneriaid lleol a’r gymuned lleol

ARGYMHELLWYD bod y Cyngor Llawn yn ystyried y cynnig

That this committee encourages the Full Council to investigate the possibility of moving the statue of Edward VIII and to work with local partners and the community to nominate a new figure to take its place. The committee notes:

• the man’s actions and views, and that we completely reject them. (https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2022/07/traitor-king-edward-viii-interview)
• that there are many more figures in the history of Aberystwyth and Wales who are much more deserving of a prestigious position.
• that there is a place for such statues but not in places of privilege.
• that we need to ensure that we work very closely with local partners and the local community.

It was RECOMMENDED that the Full Council consider the proposal
