Councillor Remuneration
Town & Community Councillors are unpaid volunteers, who give up their own time to work for and represent their communities. The work of Councillors naturally incurs some costs, and as such there are small remunerations payable to Town & Community Councillors each year. These are set annually by the Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales (IRPW), which reviews the remunerations payable to members of many public bodies, including Town & Community Councils, County Councils and Fire & Rescue authorities.
The remunerations set by the IRPW are mandatory and must be paid, unless a Councillor refuses in writing. Here you can find a list of Aberystwyth Town Councillors’ remunerations for the current and previous years.
